Can a chiropractor help my lower back pain?
It depends on the cause. Most lower back pain comes from the joints, discs, muscles and nerves of your low back. Stiff joints, a strained muscle, a bulging disc or a pinched nerve can all play a part.
Spinal adjustments, spinal decompression and exercises are often used for this kind of back pain. Some cases need a medical doctor instead. At Neu Life Chiropractic in Tomball, Dr. Rob Neuenschwander checks your spine with an exam and X-rays before he treats you.
What causes lower back pain?
Long hours of sitting at a desk or in a truck put more load on your low back. So do lifting, bending and twisting, and carrying kids or heavy bags.
Sometimes a disc is part of the cause. A bulging or herniated disc can press on a nerve. See our page on herniated disc treatment.
When does back pain need a closer look?
Pain that runs from your back into your buttock or down one leg can mean a nerve is under pressure. This is called sciatica. So can numbness or tingling in your leg or foot.
If your legs get tired or heavy when you walk and feel better when you sit, ask about spinal stenosis. Dr. Rob checks for these at your first visit.
How does Neu Life treat lower back pain?
Your plan depends on what your exam and X-rays show. It may include:
Spinal adjustments
Gentle, precise adjustments help the joints of your low back and pelvis move better. More on adjustments.
Spinal decompression
A slow, gentle stretch on our Back on Trac table aims to take pressure off a disc in your low back and the nerve. More on decompression.
Exercises
Exercises you do after your adjustment and at home help your back get stronger and hold the change.
Daily habits
Dr. Rob shows you how to sit, lift and sleep so you put less load on your low back.
How do my first two visits work?
Visit 1: You fill out your paperwork. Dr. Rob talks with you one on one and does an exam. We take digital X-rays of your spine in our office.
Visit 2: Dr. Rob walks you through your X-rays and exam results. He tells you what he found and what he recommends. If you choose to start care, you get your first treatment and your plan.
We use two visits so we find the cause first, then treat it.
What does it cost to start?
As of October 2026, new patients can ask about our $65 new patient offer. Our team will tell you what it covers when you book. We are out of network, so you pay us at the visit. Our services are eligible for insurance reimbursement, so you can ask your plan about paying you back.

"Back pain started on a Wednesday and got progressively worse until My first appointment knocked it out. Highly highly recommended"
"If you are like me, dealing with pains and aches in your lower back and shoulders, don't wait until it is too late, go right now and make an appointment at Neu Life Chiropractic and let Dr. Rob serve you."
When should I go to the ER instead?
Go to the emergency room first if you suddenly lose control of your bladder or bowels. Go if you have numbness in your groin or inner thighs. Go if your leg gets weak fast. Go if your back pain comes with a fever, or starts after a bad fall or car crash. These signs need care right away.
